Editorial: Yes on Measure M

We’ll say a few words in praise of Measure M, a ballot initiative in Santa Paula that would fulfill one goal of the general plan and merge the city’s schools into a single district.

Unification has the support of a broad range of businesses and business organizations.  At a time where there is a contentious debate about future funding for schools and whether Gov. Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30 is the answer to the problem, Measure M send the right message. It says that Santa Paula will run its nine-school district with a unified administration that reduces overhead and devotes as many dollars as possible to classroom instruction.

There is a lesson here for the folks in Sacramento. Place your priorities on  operating efficiencies and results — the support you receive from business, labor and the rest of your constituencies will be nothing short of astounding.
