CSLC rejects new oil drilling

The California State Lands Commission, the state agency responsible for approving new oil leases in California, voted June 1 to reject a Department of Finance proposal to permit oil drilling off the Santa Barbara County coast.

The State Lands Commission has had the authority to approve oil leases in California since 1937.
