Thousand Oaks builder counts on tech
The past year nearly demolished some construction firms in the Tri-Counties, but one Thousand Oaks general contractor that carved out a niche building laboratories and other high-end projects has eked out gains.
Wesely-Thomas Enterprises has built or remodeled for Amgen, Teledyne Technologies and facilities for California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, among other tri-county clients. The firm specializes in $5-million-and-under projects and has 32 employees after adding two engineers this year.
“Right now, we’re working on about $42 million worth of work for this fiscal year,” Carl Wesely, president of the company, told the Business Times. “Last year, we did about $30 million to $32 million, so we’re up, which makes me feel good. I go into staff meetings and my operations manager is happy as hell — everyone is busy.”
