A high-tech patent war
In what could become a contest of war chests, Westlake Village-based chipmaker Inphi has fired back in a patent battle with a struggling Orange County firm over products for one of the hottest parts of the semiconductor market.
The dispute started on Sept. 23 when Irvine-based Netlist, a money-losing company whose stock had traded below $1 long enough to prompt a de-listing warning from Nasdaq, sued Inphi alleging patent infringement.
On Nov. 30, Inphi fired back with its own patent infringement lawsuit against Netlist. Inphi is privately held but told the Business Times it had 101 percent revenue growth between 2006 and 2008.
