Hotelier sued over wages

IN THIS ARTICLE

North San Luis Obispo County hotelier and one-time winery owner David Weyrich faces a lawsuit from the state labor commissioner demanding $450,000 in lost wages in penalties after scores of workers complained about how he ran the Carlton Hotel in Atascadero, the Tribune reported.

The historic hotel also faces the revocation of its bar and restaurant seller’s permit for failing to pay its state taxes, the Tribune reported. The restaurant shut down. About 60 employees who worked there may not have been paid properly, the Tribune said.

In massive debt, Weyrich was also recently forced to sell his winery and luxury bed-and-breakfast and owes the state $465,000 in personal income taxes, the newspaper reported.
