The tri-county skies are about to get a little more competitive.
Starting June 4, Frontier Airlines will offer two nonstop flights to Denver International Airport each day from Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. Airport officials and airline experts expect the new flights to bring down fares and make it easier for tri-county travelers to connect to the Midwest and East Coast without having to drive to Los Angeles.
The Santa Barbara airport is the region’s largest, with an estimated 890,000 passengers projected for this year. The Frontier flights — which will leave Santa Barbara at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day except Sunday, when there will only be an afternoon flight — will run on 99-seat Embraer 190 jets.
