Theater 150 saved by last-minute donors
Ojai’s Theater 150 could breathe a big sigh of relief this week.
The small community theater located along Highway 150 recently sent out an e-mail to its supporters asking for desperately needed donations: “We have until Monday, [May 31] to raise a substantial portion of the $140,000 we need to create this new annual festival and finish out our season. For complex reasons, if we do not raise the money, we will very likely have to cancel the festival,” the message read. “If that happens, Theater 150 will likely close as well.”
But the day after the e-mail’s doomsday deadline, artistic co-director Chris Nottoli said the theater had done it — in a matter of days, the theater had managed to get almost the entire $70,000 it was lacking to stay in business.
