Consolidation wave hits region

The information technology landscape is changing in the Tri-Counties, with two acquisitions in San Luis Obispo County and more possible in the future.

The buys come as companies that have remained strong are looking for opportunities to grow and position themselves for when better times return. They’re also showing the pains and opportunities in what’s known as the managed services model for IT businesses, where the tech firms charge a fixed monthly rate instead of working hourly.

On Sept. 1, San Luis Obispo-based TekTegrity announced it had acquired Sentinel Network Systems, another San Luis Obispo County IT firm. A few weeks earlier, SLO-based Digital Foundation acquired Grover Beach-based Cloud Logic. In both cases, the employees of the acquired companies are moving over to their new owners.
