Limoneira opening South Africa branch

IN THIS ARTICLE

Santa Paula-based Limoneira announced April 10 that it is launching Limoneira South Africa, a new branch of its One World of Citrus model, and partnering with Re:inc to manage packing and sales.

Limoneira South Africa, based in Paarl, South Africa, will ship area produce globally and “pursue joint venture farming and packing operations,” Alex Teague, chief operations officer for Limoneira, said in a news release.

The partnership and location, with its large supply of citrus exports, will move Limoneira toward providing its products year-round, Teague said.

Re:inc breeds and produces fruit for growers in the international market.

“They have extensive experience in getting world class fruit to market, and they mirror Limoneira’s commitment to sustainability, stewardship and innovation,” said Mark Palamountain, a senior agricultural director for Limoneira. “This continues our mission of perfecting the 52-week citrus supply chain.”

Limoneira is an agriculture and real estate development company, producing lemons, specialty citrus, avocados and other crops on California’s Central Coast.

“Working with Limoneira made perfect sense,” Re:inc CEO Riaan van Wyk said. “Their 124-year history of growing high quality citrus for export is admirable as is their responsibility for sustainability. It will be exciting to harness our combined talents to benefit our customers.”
