Camarillo-based Hygiena expands through acquisitions

IN THIS ARTICLE

Camarillo food safety and sanitation company Hygiena announced Aug. 30 that it had acquired Mexico City distributor and longtime independent partner Pruebas Microbiologicas Rapidas.

The company will now operate as Hygiena Mexico, expanding its distribution of hygiene monitoring and molecular diagnostic equipment for food safety, healthcare and other industries. The subsidiary has six satellite locations in Mexico and will market new and existing Hygiena products, as well as other brands.

“We are excited about working with Hygiena Mexico to capture the growing opportunities in Mexico,” CEO Steven Nason said in a news release. “This acquisition is part of Hygiena’s overall strategy to increase access, service and support of its products around the globe.”

The company also acquired Delaware-based DuPont’s food safety and diagnostics segment DuPont Nutrition & Health, returning it to the Qualicon brand under which it was founded.

Financial terms were not disclosed for either deal, but Hygiena received an equity investment from Warburg Pincus in July of 2016 to facilitate it expansion.
