Angels Wine, Food & Brew benefit good for business networking

IN THIS ARTICLE

One of a handful of true business networking must-go events, the Angels Wine, Food & Brew benefit for nonprofit Casa Pacifica is rolling out its 26th annual program in June.

The festival will be held June 2 at the CSU Channel Islands campus and all proceeds benefit Casa Pacifica, which provides services to families in need in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Formerly known as the Angels Food & Wine festival, the program added beer when craft breweries became a major part of Ventura County’s foodie scene. Tickets are on sale at www.cpwinefoodbrewfest.com.

The festival bills itself as “one of the largest food and drink events in California” and its exhibitors include restaurants, caterers, bakeries and specialty shops. VIP seating is available and those guests get treated to champagne and small bites from Mastro’s Steakhouse.

A silent auction is held online to tempt ticket holders with vacations, dining experiences, wine tastings and jewelry. The main stage features live entertainment.

The exhibitors compete for a slew of “Best in Fest” awards for main courses, desserts, wine and craft beer. Among the many champions is Chef Alex Castillo of Twenty88 who is defending his title for the fourth consecutive year.

Among the judges Chef Masa Shimakawa, Chef de Cuisine of ONYX at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village; Celebrity Chef Eric Kopelow; and Chef Nic Manocchio of University Auxilary Services at CSU Channel Islands.

Casa Pacifica is short for Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families and its campus is located east of the CSU CI entrance. It provides residential treatment facilities for foster or at-risk children in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. It also administers other programs that are community-based making it the largest nonprofit provider of children’s mental health services in the region.
