Two San Luis Obispo County sexual assault and domestic violence organizations are merging.

RISE and Stand Strong announced July 1 that they’re merging, with the new name and logo to be announced on July 14. The new organization’s leadership team will include people from both non-profits, including Jennifer Adams, the former executive director of Stand Strong, as the new organization’s CEO.

Jane Pomeroy, the former executive director of RISE, will act as the new organization’s chief program officer, while Karen Borges, the previous associate director of Stand Strong, will be the new organization’s chief operations officer.

Both RISE and Stand Strong have worked in the SLO community since the mid 1970s, and the goal of the merger is to provide streamlined services to clients throughout the county.

“Together, we will provide more seamless services to those in need while combining the strengths of both programs,” Adams said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing the vital work of empowering survivors and preventing violence.”

The organizations do not plan to cut staff as a result of the merger.
