Two Ventura County law firms merging

Two Central Coast law firms, Lowthorp Richards, McMillan, Miller & Templeman, and The Hathaway Law Firm, will merge effective on Jan. 1.

The combined firm will operate as Lowthorp Richards, LLP, the practices announced on Nov. 30.

Lowthorp Richards, McMillan, Miller & Templeman is based in Oxnard.

The Hathaway Law Firm is in Ventura.

The new combined firm will be in the Oxnard Tower, 300 E. Esplanade Dr., Suite 850, in Oxnard. 

Cristian Arrieta, managing partner of Lowthorp Richards, said in a press release that the merger “represents a historical turn that will cement long-term strength and continuity, as we combine our talents to meet the needs of our clients in the twenty-first century and beyond.”

Arrieta will be the managing partner of the combined firm.

Both firms have a deep history in the Central Coast.

Lowthorp Richards dates to 1913 when its attorneys primarily represented local farmers and ranchers. 

Currently, the firm’s practice areas include business and real estate, trusts and estates, agriculture and land use, business and civil litigation, personal injury/wrongful death, and family law.

The Hathaway Law Firm, established in 1961, provides legal services to individuals, businesses, and governmental agencies in local, statewide, national, and international matters.

Seth Shapiro, managing partner of The Hathaway Law Firm, said in the release that, “we are excited to be joining forces with Lowthorp Richards. 

“The pooling of talent and resources will allow us to better serve clients and their increasingly diverse legal needs,” he said.
