Five companies with ties to and locations in the Central Coast region were placed on Glassdoor’s 2024 Best Places to Work List including Yardi, Amgen, Procore, LinkedIn and Cox Communications.

Yardi Systems — a software company headquartered in Goleta — was ranked No. 92; Amgen — a pharmaceutical company based in Thousand Oaks — was ranked No. 88; Procore — a construction management software company based in Carpinteria — was ranked No. 5; LinkedIn — a business and employment-oriented social media platform with an office in Carpinteria — was ranked No. 74; and Cox Communications — a cable television and telecommunications company that serves the Santa Barbara region — ranked No. 97.

Amgen — who was placed on Glassdoor’s list for the first time — credited its success to an inclusive work environment.

“We’re honored to be recognized on Glassdoor’s list of 100 Best Places to Work. At Amgen we are constantly working to ensure an inclusive workplace where all employees have the opportunity to thrive,” Derek Miller, senior vice president of Human Resources, said in a statement to Pacific Coast Business Times.

The statement continued to describe the company’s policies and services that encourage inclusivity, including Employee Resource Groups (ERG) where employees can congregate around shared life experiences and identities.

According to Amgen, ERGs “support and illustrate the impact that a diverse workforce has” and “are a key component in helping us recruit and retain a diverse workforce.”

“Amgen is committed to promoting and maintaining an inclusive, high-performing culture where team members embrace and leverage each other’s talents and backgrounds. Our commitment to diversity is articulated in our values and reflected throughout our organization,” the statement continued.

Cox Communications — a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises that is now 60 years old — is the largest privately owned broadband service provider in the United States.

“Cox Communications is thrilled to be recognized by Glassdoor as a top place to work. Cox began as a small family business more than 125 years ago, and we’ve maintained and remained committed to that sense of family as we’ve grown into the large, national company we are today,” Kirsten McLaughlin, Santa Barbara Market Vice President of Cox Communications, said in a statement to Pacific Coast Business Times.

McLaughlin also credited Employee Resource Groups for fostering an inclusive work environment.

“We strive to create an environment in which people feel valued, empowered, supported, and well-prepared. We encourage our employees to participate in the company’s efforts to give back to our communities and our Enterprise-wide Employee Resource Groups,” McLaughlin continued. “Cox has always been committed to building authentic relationships and creating meaningful connections and all of that starts with our team.”

Procore — a software provider allowing construction stakeholders to be involved throughout the lifecycle of a construction project — ranked the highest of the five companies with ties to the Central Coast on the list. The software is used in over 150 countries.

“We’re extremely proud to be listed as Glassdoor’s 5th best place to work this year,” Procore’s President and Chief Culture Officer Steve Zahm said. “This award symbolizes employees’ belief in Procore’s vision and mission, the strength of our company culture, and our commitment to always putting people first.”

According to Zahm, the company’s values of improving people’s lives are present not just in the product that they offer, but in the workplace culture they promote.

“Procore’s vision is to improve the lives of everyone in construction and our mission is to connect everyone in construction on one global platform,” Zahm said. “Our values are just as important to our employees: ownership, openness, and optimism. Procore’s culture has become a key enabler of our company’s growth and a significant competitive advantage for attracting top talent, driving revenue growth, and powering continued execution from highly engaged employees.”
