4.6 Earthquake Shakes Eastern Ventura County


A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck near Malibu and Thousand Oaks at 1:47 p.m. Friday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the temblor’s epicenter was about 7.5 miles northwest of Malibu.

The quake could be felt throughout the area, including in Thousand Oaks.

Patrick Maynard, the director of Ventura County’s Office of Emergency Services, told the Business Times “there’s the potential for things to have fallen off shelves, but at this time we haven’t received word of any major damage related to it.”
