Santa Maria Valley Chamber names new CEO

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce has named Michael Boyer as its new President and CEO.

He will take over on June 10, replacing Glenn Morris, the Chamber’s longtime CEO, who is moving on to helm the association for Chambers of Commerce in the Western region.

Boyer, a resident of Arroyo Grandey currently serves as the Board Chair for Epic Entertainment and supports his family’s real estate business, Pismo Beach Homes.

He has served on the SLO Chamber and South County Chamber boards and has been involved with the SLO YMCA, Lumina Alliance and the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation. He is also a founding director of Diversity Coalition San Luis Obispo County and previously served on the board of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber.

He served as CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Mid Central Coast, which achieved 100% expansion in just three years. He was also the Chief Operating Officer of Digital West Networks.

According to a release, he orchestrated the merger of Stand Strong and Rise as the Chair of the Board of Stand Strong, “consolidating efforts against sexual assault and intimate partner violence in SLO County.”

In the release, Moyer said he will look to “collaborate with community stakeholders” and continue “to lead the region in economic development, tourism marketing, and business advocacy.”

Paul Cook, CEO of CoastHills Credit Union and Chairman of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber, said the vote to appoint Moyer was unanimous. 

“We are genuinely lucky to have Michael’s amazing background and skill join our team,” Cook said in the release.
