Sutter Health has entered into an agreement to acquire Santa Barbara-based Hayashida Physical Therapy.
“We are proud to welcome Hayashida Physical Therapy into the Sutter Health family,” Dr. Kurt Ransohoff, president of Sutter Health’s Greater Central Coast, announced in an Oct. 28 press release.
“This investment preserves a vital community resource and strengthens access to physical therapy services, reflecting our commitment to providing the highest quality of care to patients throughout the communities we serve,” he said.
The strategic acquisition ensures the long-term sustainability of Hayashida PT, which provides outpatient physical therapy services, Ransohoff said.
By joining nonprofit Sutter Health, Hayashida PT will gain access to expanded resources, operational support, and clinical integration, he said.
Hayashida patients can continue to see the same physical therapists, with little to no disruption in services.
“We are excited to become part of Sutter Health’s expanding and innovative organization and feel aligned with our mutual ambitions to continue developing clinical excellence while creating new access points for our active community,” said Maury Hayashida, who founded Hayashida Physical Therapy in 2002 as an orthopedic and sports rehabilitation center.
Hayashida PT has locations in Santa Barbara and Goleta.
Combined with Sutter Health’s Goleta physical therapy office, the three sites will comprise Sutter’s Greater Central Coast physical therapy department, serving a combined 8,700 patients each year.
The Greater Central Coast became Sutter Health’s sixth community-based market in California as a result of its merger with Santa Barbara-based Sansum Clinic in September 2023.
