Adventist Health announced Jan. 17 the approval of a $220 million capital expansion at Adventist Health Sierra Vista, marking one of the most significant healthcare investments ever made in San Luis Obispo County.
The investment will modernize and expand facilities at the San Luis Obispo hospital to support advanced, high-quality care in the community, Ryan Ashlock, president of Adventist Health Central Coast, said in a press release.
Project planning will begin immediately with groundbreaking and subsequent construction to commence by 2028.
“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to the Central Coast,” Ashlock said.
Planned improvements include:
- A new emergency department and trauma center.
- New labor and delivery and postpartum units.
- New operating and procedure rooms to support expanded services.
- A new intensive care unit.
- Remodeled inpatient rooms designed for healing, comfort, and improved patient experience.
“From the beginning, we recognized that this community expects more from its healthcare providers — and that earning trust matters,” Ashlock said.
“This project ensures families have access to advanced, high-quality care in facilities that match the exceptional care already being delivered here,” he said.
The expansion was announced during the Jan. 17 San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala, where Adventist Health served as the presenting sponsor.
