The Trade Desk keeps C-suite hires coming

IN THIS ARTICLE

After months of stock selloffs and C-suite changes, The Trade Desk is looking for more stability and has initiated another executive hire in hopes of getting there.

The Trade Desk, an advertising tech firm based in Ventura, announced the appointment of Kristi Argyilan as chief commercial officer and executive vice president. Argyilan is the third new C-level hire in the past two months.

Argyilan will lead The Trade Desk’s data partnerships team, including identity, measurement, retail media, governance and more. She will report to founder and CEO Jeff Green and be based in San Francisco, according to the press release.

Announced July 15, The Trade Desk shares saw some slight positive movement from the news, gaining about 2.2% on the day to close at $19.37. Shares of The Trade Desk are down 48.9% since the start of the year and 75% year-over-year.

Part of the reason for that drop could be the amount of C-suite turnover the company has faced in the last year.

As a result, the company is rebuilding its executive suite, including bringing in Argyilan, who is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of the retail media industry, having spent more than a decade driving innovation at the intersection of commerce, retail data and advertising, according to the press release.

Argyilan joins The Trade Desk after most recently serving as global head of advertising at Uber, where she led the company’s global advertising business. Prior to Uber, she held senior leadership roles at Albertsons Media Collective, Roundel and IPG Mediabrands. She also serves on the board of LiveRamp.

“Advertising is entering one of the most important periods of innovation in its history, as brands look for partners who can help them navigate rapid change while creating lasting competitive advantage,” said Jeff Green, founder and CEO of The Trade Desk. “I’ve long admired Kristi’s work through our partnership and know she’s exactly that kind of leader. She has an exceptional ability to bring together customers, partners and teams around a shared vision — and then turn that vision into measurable business growth. I’m thrilled to welcome her to The Trade Desk, where she’ll help our clients seize the opportunities created by AI, commerce, and the open internet while strengthening the ecosystem that makes that innovation possible.”

Argyilan will begin on July 27.

“The advertising industry is at an inflection point, and The Trade Desk is uniquely positioned to help marketers navigate what’s next,” said Argyilan. “I’ve long admired Jeff and the company’s commitment to innovation, transparency and the open internet, as well as its relentless focus on customer success. I’m excited to join this exceptional team and work alongside our clients and partners around the world as we help them unlock new opportunities for growth through data-driven advertising, measurement and decisioning.”

Argyilan’s hire is the third C-level hire since June. On June 1, The Trade Desk appointed Nate Olmstead as its CFO. He took over the role on July 9. Olmstead is tasked with sustaining accelerated growth and scale for the company.

Olmstead succeeded Alex Kayyal, who was appointed in August 2025 and stepped down in January, just a few months after Laura Schenkein’s departure. Tahnil Davis, who served as interim CFO, will continue to serve as chief accounting officer, the title she held before taking on the interim role.

On June 11, The Trade Desk announced Sarah Gavin as its new executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Gavin will lead TTD’s marketing organization, overseeing global brand, communications, customer marketing, and demand generation efforts, playing a key role in deepening engagement with customers and partners, and advancing its vision for the open internet.

Gavin joined the company on June 15, most recently serving as chief communications officer and interim chief marketing officer at Zendesk, where she helped lead the company’s transformation into an AI-powered customer service leader. She has also worked at Google.

“We’ve always believed that great companies are built by exceptional people,” said Green. “The leaders we’ve welcomed over the past month bring world-class experience, fresh perspectives and an unwavering commitment to our customers. As AI transforms advertising and the open internet enters its next phase of growth, their leadership will help ensure we continue building the products, partnerships and capabilities our clients need to succeed for years to come.”
