ChipAgents keeps venture capital dollars flowing

IN THIS ARTICLE

Just five months after ChipAgents tacked on $50 million to its Series A round, the AI company is piling on the cash yet again, adding another $60 million in Series A2 financing, bringing the expanded round to $134 million in total.

New investors in the round included B Capital, joining Bessemer Venture Partners, Micron, MediaTek, Ericsson, ScOp and other existing investors, according to the July 28 press release.

ChipAgents, which is headquartered in Santa Clara but was founded and still houses major operations in Goleta, specializes in an AI platform whose goal is to use AI to speed up the process of chip design and verification.

ChipAgents’ electronic design automation AI platform automates routine tasks, accelerates design and verification, and enables AI-native workflows.

Founded in 2024, ChipAgents will use the additional funding to support ChipAgents’ next phase of expansion as the company scales customer deployments, grows its engineering and go-to-market teams, and accelerates development of its AI-native semiconductor design platform, according to the press release.

Founder and CEO William Wang told the Business Times in February, after its $50 million add-on round, that ChipAgents employs about 46 people, about 20 of whom work at the Goleta office. The company had just opened its Santa Clara headquarters at the time.

Wang could not be immediately reached for comment before press time.

The company’s additional funding also comes as it continues its rapid rise in the AI industry seemingly overnight. Since October, the company has raised $134 million, and during the first half of 2026, the company reported sixfold growth in ARR and deployed to more than 120 semiconductor companies, including MediaTek and Micron.

Today, the company has established one of the industry’s leading autonomous platforms for chip design and verification, according to the press release.

ChipAgents is also working with some of the world’s largest companies. On July 27, it announced it was expanding upon its strategic collaboration with Nvidia.

“As the industry deals with the simultaneous pressures of increasing architectural complexity and time-to-market pressure, semiconductor companies need solutions that increase productivity, shrink time-to-market and minimize the risk of design flaws,” said William Wang, CEO and founder of ChipAgents. “We’re enabling the industry to move beyond AI assistants toward autonomous agents that can execute meaningful engineering work. Our customer growth shows that semiconductor companies are ready for that shift, and this financing allows us to bring that capability to even more engineering teams.”

While gaining national attention, ChipAgents also continues to receive recognition in its hometown.

Back in June, Wang was honored at the South Coast Business and Technology Awards, hosted by the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, as the 2026 Entrepreneur of the Year.

In an April interview with the Business Times, Wang noted how “Santa Barbara is a wonderful place to start a company.”

“We really believe that this is a great ecosystem we have in Santa Barbara,” Wang said.

Asked if he always wanted to be an entrepreneur, Wang said he was “always a builder,” focusing on building UC Santa Barbara’s AI efforts in 2016 when he joined as a professor.

“Innovation is critical. You want to be able to create new technologies and use innovative ideas to really make an impact, and that’s true whether we’re starting a new group at a university or whether we’re starting ChipAgents,” Wang said.
