Aeluma announces Q4 results, new partnership

Goleta-based Aeluma, a semiconductor company, announced its results for the fourth quarter on Sept. 16.
Aeluma’s fourth-quarter revenue was $600,000, down from $1.3 million in the same quarter a year ago. The company also suffered a net loss of $4 million, or 22 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $900,000 in the same quarter a year ago.
For the full year, Aeluma’s revenue was $4.5 million, compared to $4.7 million in the prior year, and was primarily from government contracts. Net loss was $9.2 million, or 52 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $3 million for the prior year.
During the year, Aeluma grew the team from 14 to more than 30 people, including key executive hires. The company also executed six new contracts totaling $5.3 million in value, including awards from NASA, the U.S. Navy, and others. Programs accelerate development of Aeluma’s photodetector, laser, and quantum technologies.
The company also added cash, adding $20.1 million, bringing cash and cash equivalents to $56 million as of June 30.
In other news, on Sept. 15, Aeluma announced it has executed an agreement with Sumitomo Chemical Advanced Technologies to accelerate development and production of photonics wafers for the AI datacom market.
The agreement will initially leverage existing metal-organic chemical vapor deposition capabilities at SCAT’s Phoenix, Arizona manufacturing facility, and provides a path for increasing capacity in the future, according to the press release.
