Street smarts: Ventech to host event on Business of Space
Ventech, the premier hub for business and technology innovation in the Central Coast region, will host an event titled “The Business of Space: To Infinity and Beyond” on Oct. 15 at the Cabrillo Pavilion in Santa Barbara. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
The event will feature a panel moderated by Kevin Riley, the former CEO of Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, and the panelists include Megan Tremer, the current president of Teledyne Space Imaging, as well as Todd Masters, the COO of Santa Barbara-based Umbra, and Kelsey Judd, the program manager, Advanced Solar Cell Technology at Redwire Space.
The event will focus on insights from key technological areas in the industry, how they enable the industry and how the region is playing an active role in the growth of aerospace.
Teledyne’s Space Imaging has a long heritage of developing space-qualified imaging sensors, focal plane arrays and camera instrument systems. Teledyne provided infrared sensors to NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, a flagship astronomy and astrophysics mission that was launched on Dec. 25, 2021.
Santa Barbara-based Umbra is a space technology company that came out of stealth mode in 2021. The company provides access to satellite images and offers dedicated satellite missions. The company expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Goleta earlier this year.
