Community Bank of Santa Maria is expanding its technological capabilities with the hiring of Masako Yamamoto as its vice president and AI and digital lead, the bank announced Oct. 14. Yamamoto brings more than 20 years of experience leading digital transformation, artificial intelligence, product management, banking, finance and wealth management initiatives.

Janet Silveria, CEO of CBSM, said in a statement that Masako joins the team in “an important role.”

“She brings a strong combination of technical expertise and a deep understanding of how technology can support people. We are confident in her ability to lead our digital transformation efforts and help our staff deliver an even higher level of service to our customers,” she said.

Silveria described Masako’s role as helping to “identify and remove operational inefficiencies.”

“We believe technology should enhance the work of our staff, not replace them. Our team will remain at the center of every customer relationship and continue to make the decisions that impact the customers we serve. Securing our customer data will always remain priority one,” she said.
