Veterans: We appreciate your service
Special comment from the editor:
Today, Nov. 11, we take time to celebrate the role of veterans in our communities at our military installations and among our neighbors.
At the Business Times, the heart and soul of our special reports and research effort is Chris Officer, a Marine veteran who served his country and used his veterans’ benefits to earn an undergraduate degree in journalism.
Marissa Nall, our technology editor, is married to a National Guardsman who has been deployed multiple times on the front lines of disaster recovery in California.
We appreciate the work of veterans like Brad “Brick” Conners and Jim McHugh, who have made the transition from leadership positions at Naval Base Ventura County to leadership roles in Ventura County. And the work of retired Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Bob Hatch, a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
Lest we forget, there is the example of Peter Jordano, who served as a Marine before taking the helm of his family-owned company, leading it through recessions and recoveries to celebrate 105 years in business.
Veterans mean a lot to our community. We appreciate their service.
