The University of California is championing several UC Santa Barbara patents on the international stage, squaring off against retail giants like Amazon, Walmart and IKEA as it seeks to break new ground in protecting university research.

UC Regents, represented by law firm Nixon Peabody, filed a series of lawsuits and a complaint with the International Trade Commission in defense of intellectual property rights for filament LED technologies developed by UCSB researchers.
